What stays on your device

Presets you save, recordings you make, and your settings are stored on your iPad, in space shared between the Scythe app and the Scythe Audio Unit. Recordings capture Scythe's own output; Scythe never uses the microphone. None of this is sent to us or anyone else. It leaves your device only when you share or copy a clip yourself, or as part of your own device backup.

Crash and diagnostic reports

The Scythe app uses Sentry, a crash reporting service in the United States, to tell us when the app crashes or stops responding. A report contains:

• what the app was doing when the problem happened (a stack trace)
• device model, iPadOS version, Scythe version, language, and memory use
• a random identifier created when the app is installed, so we can tell one crash happening many times from many separate crashes

Reports do not contain your name, email address, presets, recordings, or anything you play. They are not linked to your identity or used for tracking. We use them only to find and fix bugs. The Scythe Audio Unit, when running inside another app, sends no reports.

Network MIDI

Scythe makes itself available as a network MIDI device, so other devices on your local network can play it. That traffic stays on your network and never reaches us.

Feedback email

The feedback button opens a message to us in your mail app. If you send it, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and use them only to reply to you.

App Store

Downloads, purchases, and ratings are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We never see your Apple ID or payment details.

Children

Scythe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top of it before the change ships.
