Camera, microphone, and photos

• Camera — to show the live picture the effects are drawn on.
• Microphone — to record sound with your videos. Audio is written only into the video you are recording.
• Photos — to save the photos and videos you make. Liquid Lens asks only to add to your library, not to read it. When you import a picture, the system photo picker hands the app just the one photo you choose.

All of this is processed on your device. No image, video, or sound is ever sent to us or anyone else.

Face detection

Some effects follow your face. They use Apple's on-device face detection to find the outline of a face and the position of the eyes in the current frame, so the effect can be drawn in the right place. That information is kept in memory only while the effect is on screen. It is never stored, never leaves your device, and is not used to recognize or identify anyone.

What stays on your device

Photos and videos go to your Photos library. A video is written to a temporary file in the app's cache before it is saved there; the system clears that cache. The app also remembers your last effect and a few settings. Nothing else is stored.

Crash and diagnostic reports

Liquid Lens uses Sentry, a crash reporting service in the United States, to tell us when the app crashes or stops responding. A report contains:

• what the app was doing when the problem happened (a stack trace)
• device model, operating system and app version, language, time zone, memory, battery, and screen size
• a random identifier created when the app is installed, so we can tell one crash happening many times from many separate crashes

Reports never include images, video, sound, or screenshots. They are not linked to your identity or used for tracking. We use them only to find and fix bugs.

Purchases

Video recording and watermark-free photos are in-app purchases handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. The app checks what you have bought with the App Store on your device. We have no server of our own and never see your Apple ID or payment details.

Children

Liquid Lens is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If our practices change, we will update this page and the date at the top of it before the change ships.
